Chris "Lights Out" Lytle Retires From MMA

Prior to last nights UFC on Versus 5 event, Chris Lytle announced his retirement from MMA. Lytle got the 38th win of his career after handing Dan Hardy his fourth loss in a row Sunday night.

Lytle's career was revived on season four of The Ultimate Fighter where he was one win away from receiving a title shot before losing to Matt Serra in the finals. The fight was considered lackluster and from then on Lytle decided that he would never be in another boring fight for the rest of his career. Serra went on to pull off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history against Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, but Lytle went on to win a UFC record 10 post fight awards including: Six Fight of the Night awards, three Submission of the Night awards and one Knockout of the Night award.

Lytle came out swinging in every fight and even though he sported a Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt, he decided to stand and swing for the fences with countless opponents. In 49 fights, Lytle was never knocked out or submitted. He never won a title, but he will surely be a UFC Hall of Famer.
